Forest productivity, along with the broad range of conservation values and benefits that forests provide are all dependent on our forests being healthy and vigorous. Wisconsin's forests are facing many challenges as a result of a variety of stress factors, including introduced destructive forest pests, other invasive plant species, deer overbrowsing, the impacts of extreme weather and other climate-driven stresses, and the impacts of unsustainable management practices. To address these threats and sustain the diversity and benefits of Wisconsin forests, the Council is working to communicate and stress the importance of needed actions that support forest health.
